ORCHARD CREEK TRAIL

DIFFICULTY:  Easy.

ELEVATION GAIN: Not significant.

HIKE DISTANCE: 5 miles total out and back

DESCRIPTION: Hike the paved trail from Wilson Park to Coyote Pond and back. Cross Oak Valley Drive and continue on the trail through the oak forest along Orchard Creek. Continue to Coyote Pond. Hike around the pond and return by same route. Read the interpretive signs about J. Parker Whitney, early settlers, and Native Americans along the way.

FOOD AND WATER: Bring water and a snack.

TRAVEL TIME/DISTANCE:  About 10 minutes of driving for a one-way trip of 4 miles. Donation of $3 is suggested for riders. Directions will be handed out to all drivers.

FACILITIES:  Rest rooms at Wilson Park starting and ending point.

PREPARATION FOR HIKE:  Sturdy boots or walking shoes are recommended.

BRING THE FOLLOWING: Bring a copy of your ID (driver's license), health card, and an emergency contact name and phone number with you on the hike.

RISKS:  Watch for traffic when crossing roadways.
