ORCHARD CREEK TRAIL (the real one)

DIFFICULTY:  Moderate (because of distance).

 

ELEVATION:  Highest elevation -- approx. 350 feet.  Lowest elevation -- approx. 200 feet.

 
HIKE DISTANCE:  Approximately 9 miles.

 
GENERAL LOCATION:   Across Twelve Bridges from SCLH.

 
DESCRIPTION:  A loop hike --- beginning in the OC parking lot, traversing mainly downhill toward the Park Drive entrance to SCLH, crossing Twelve Bridges, then walking West to the entrance to the path to Wilson Park (on East Joiner Parkway), then turning East, and gradually rising to about 350’ elevation at an exit back to Twelve Bridges just past the housing on Twelve Bridges.  This part passes a small pond and crosses (bridge) over small creeks.  The route is partly Urban, and mostly Open Space.  The trail is mostly paved with some packed sand/gravel.

    FACILITIES AVAILABLE:  Flush toilets at Orchard Creek Lodge.

    PREPARATION FOR HIKE:   Comfortable athletic shoes, water, and snack (we will be back at LH at lunchtime).
